French toast with apples and dried fruit

Makes 4 servings


Ingredients

- 1 dry French loaf

- 1 litre milk

- 10 eggs

- 300g sugar

- 50g flour

- 100g butter

- 4 vanilla sticks

- 4 apples (golden delicious are very suitable)

- 10ml Calvados

- juice from 1 lemon

- dried fruit


Cut the French loaf into slices (1 thick or 2 smaller slices per person).


Beat the eggs with 200g sugar, then add the cold milk and the Calvados. Soak the bread in this mixture. Set aside.


Peel and quarter the apples and sauté them with half the butter and the rest of the sugar. Once caramelized, add the juice from one lemon. 


Dredge the bread slices in flour then fry them in butter, turning once. 


When cooked, place in the centre of a plate and add the apple slices and the dried fruit.
