The Hanging Garden of the Halles d'Avignon

The north wall of the covered market of Avignon was turned green by the botanist Patrick Blanc who has created other works of this style, including the façade of the Museum of Primitive Arts on the Quay Branly in Paris.

With a sophisticated watering system, the vegetal wall was created by the superposition of a metal frame, PVC films and an irrigation mat.

The vegetal work is composed of 20 plants per square metre and it is speckled with multicoloured flowers.

Visitors and the people of Avignon delight in this new verdant patch that brings freshness and nature into the heart of the city.
