Olive oil mill of la Chartreuse

The Olive Oil Mill of the Chartreuse is one of the oldest in France still in activity. It was created in 1358 by the Cartesian Order with the benediction of Pope Innocent VI.

In 2009, the buildings housing the Olive Oil Mill were listed with the Historic Monuments of France.

In 2008, the Bronzini family took over the Olive Oil Mill and worked at furthering the quality of its traditional production. For this, they have been granted several awards, such as:

- Organic Certification in 2009
- the appellation AOC Provence in 2009
- Silver Medal in the PACA and Languedoc-Roussillon Region for its green fruity Cuvée Terroir in 2010
- Gold Medal for Products of Excellence, category Fruity Green, for the Cuvée AOC Provence, awarded by the Conseil Général in 2010.

In 2010, Philippe Bronzini undertook considerable restoration work in order to enhance the historical parts of the building all while modernizing the production equipment.
The Mill's shop, situated in the former stables of the Chartreuse, offers regional products, natural and organic cosmetics and fine groceries such as the teas Thés Mariage Frères.

Complementing this space, the former barn at the Mill and the adjoining theatre have been transformed into a traditional crafts centre: HETEROCLIT’ART. Here, you will find decorative objects, furnishings, household linens and creative objects in all styles and for all budgets.

We warmly welcome all people curious to discover our profession, our passion, our history and our traditionally crafted products, and we offer you a free tasting as well.
