Silvacane Abbey in la Roque d'Anthéron

The Silvacane Abbey is a Cistercian abbey located in the township of La Roque d'Antheron in the Bouches du Rhone. It owes its name to the reeds of the Durance river, on whose banks the abbey is situated.

It is the most recent of the three Cistercian abbeys in Provence and the only one that has not continued its monastic activity. Since January 2008, the abbey is the property of the town of La Roque d'Anthéron.
The rooms in the Abbey, undergoing restoration, can still be visited.
