Set upon a rocky outcrop, the Castle of Les Baux dominates the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence and offers incredible panoramic views over the Alpilles.
The ruins and vestiges of this 11th century fortress remain and visitors can wander through them along a lively circuit punctuated by explanatory panels and orientation tables.
You will discover the Castle as it was in the Middle Ages, a much-coveted stronghold often attacked until its demolition in 1632.
Many ruins attest to the site's importance: the keep, the Saracen and Paravelle towers, the Castrale and Sainte-Blaise chapels, the lower courtyard and farmyard, the Quiqueran Hospital, the windmill, oven house, dovecote, cistern and cave houses.
Illustrated tours, audio-guide tours in 7 languages, a 3D film, shows and permanent activities, workshops... here, you will find all that's needed to take you back to the age of the knights, the feudal lords and the wars.
During the tourist season, many events bring the fortress back to life and catapult you into history: the "Médiévales des Baux" from late March to the end of August, "Secrets d'Artisans" every weekend in September and the “Automnales" in October.
