The national stud farms are public French establishments present throughout the country.
It is their job to manage the horse industry, from the horses' propagation to their utilization and, as such, they guarantee the presevation and amelioration of genetic patrimony. They are in charge, together with the Budget Ministry, of regulating races and betting ; they contribute to the development of equitation. This stud farm in France, in Uzès is the main place for decisions concerning the selection and the reproduction of sport and recreational horses in the Southeast of France. |
This stud farm in France spreads out over eleven hectares. The facilities and buildings are modern and rational, all respecting regional architecture. and is comprised of its forge and barns in an 19th century residence, and also two big stables counting more than seventy stalls, as well as two sandpits for working the stallions, a riding ring and offices.
The equestrian guides will share with you their knowledge, their love and their passion for all these nobles animals which are the Camargue horse, the French Saddle, Arab purebloods, the Meren, the Appaloosa or the Quarter-Horse. |

In the past, three stallion depots functioned in the region : Arles until 1859, Perpignan, until 1927 and Ajaccio. After the closing of the latter, the management of Midi-Mediterranean breeding was divided among the stud farms of Annecy, Rodez and Tarbes.
The geographic sector covered by the Uzès stud farm is very big as it is formed by three regions : Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Corsica. 13 departements in all ! |
