Brun de Vian Tiran

Around the world without leaving your bed |
Since the 19th century, the Vian-Tiran factory has imported its wool from Africa and the Levant - Alep, Mossoul, Constantine - without, however, losing sight of local wool production, that of the Mérino of Arles sheep. Louis and Pierre Brun, who sell their woolen covers farther and farther afield, don't cease to discover new fibers ; the enterprise is extending its search, taking an interest in the glossy fleece of the Karakuls sheep of Turkmenistan, as well as the hair of the Angora goat of Turkey.

After the fashion of the conquistadors, they traveled to the East, bringing back in their trunks, camel from Asia, cashmere from Iran, China and Mongolia and even Yak from Persia. Then, they turned towards the Peruvian Alpacas and Llamas. They climed to the summits of the high mountains of Central Asia to find the exceptional fleece of the Yangir goat. In Oceania, they were fascinated by the wool of only a few microns, the Mérinos of Australia and the extraordinary Cashgora - a cross of Cashmere and Angora goats, first bred at the beginning of the 19th century by the engineer Antoine-Rémi Polonceau, an achievement that earned him a gold medal from the Royal and Central Agriculture Society.
