A winding road meandering alongside the slopes of the “Costières” leads you to the CHATEAU MOURGUES DU GRES, in the midst of orchards and garrigue.
This former estate belonged to the Convent of the Ursulines of Beaucaire before the French Revolution - from where the "Mourgues" éponyme (nuns in Provencal - "Grès" meaning "pebbles").
In the court, there is the sundial with the motto "SINE SOLE NIHIL" (Nothing Without Sun), this sunshine permitting to get optimal maturities for a balanced wine. |
