The Climate :
- Mediterranean
- 600 to 800 mm of rain annually, mainly from showers and thunderstorms
- Over 100 days of mistral (wind) per year.
- A seasonal dryness propitious for the ripening of the grapes.
- A tempered climate, due to the influence of the pre-alpine massif of the Dentelles de Montmirail. |
Vacqueyras :
The Domaine La Fourmone vineyard is situated mainly around the property, which has a slightly stony but more often sandy limestone soil. The privileged exposure and diversity of the soils ensure that their wines have character and specificity.
Gigondas :
The Gigondas vineyard is nested at the foot of the "Dentelles de Montmirail", an excellent favoured site, a holding of vines situated at the "Petit-Montmirail", the family property of Mme Louisette Combe.
The traditional slope banks receive the varieties that are essential for the appellation : mainly Grenache, as well as Syrah and Mourvèdre. An environment surrounded with pines, thyme and rosemary under the Provence sun, facing south-south west and a chalky clayey soil are guarantees for a great wine.
Vinification and commercialisation at the Domaine La Fourmone.
Culture :
The work in the vineyards takes into account the respect for the environment and man : rationalised treatments, working the soil.
The quality of our products is mainly due to the rigor applied to our work, consisting mainly in undertaking the numerous tasks, when in leaf, such as thinning, de-budding, removing the centre grapes, harvesting while leafed, etc...
The manual sorting and harvesting reinforce our philosophy. |
