Wine from a domain of Cotes du Rhone

The origins of the Domaine La Fourmone
"Fourmone" comes from the Latin Frumentum (wheat). It could be derived from the soil where the wheat grows well or the domain where this precious grain is stored, however, through comparison, one notices that a family name was used to name a farmhouse.
Working the soil has been the main occupation of the Domaine la Fourmone since the XVII century. Throughout the years a slow evolution took place. New buildings, surrounded by greenery, were added to the primitive household. The wineries took over from the, haylofts, animal pens and cocoonery lofts. In the fields the vines replaced the mulberry bushes, olive trees and cereal fields…
Through their wines the Domaine de la Fourmone gradually obtained their family motto : Tradition and Pride of the Fourmone Vintners.
Raço Racejo : race perpetuated, tradition goes on.
The earth has always been worked with respect at la Fourmone.

It is on the locality of "Petit Montmirail" that are exploited in terraces and hillsides our vines of Gigondas. On the South-western side of Dentelles de Montmirail.
At the 19th century the property of Mme Louisette Combe, of origin FAUQUET, was a hotel at the famous Montmirail thermal baths where celebrities such as Sarah BERNHARD or Frederic MISTRAL rubbed shoulders. |
Life at the domain
One of the personalities that have marked the domain is Roger Combe. Writer in the Provençal language, he assiduously defends the language of Mistral. His poems in Provençal are proof. With pride in his origins he cultivated, with talent, a respect for tradition and it is this that one finds in the quality of the domain wines.
His daughters Marie-Thérèse "Maître de Chais" and Aline now undertake the operation of the domain.
They will welcome you with pleasure for a wine tasting at the domain. |
