Jacqueline Brotte in the steps of Alfred Persia. The
paintbrush and the pen unite, to uncover the beauty of the Luberon.
Journalist - she had been a reporter for the Figaro, the Point, Marie-Claire
- in 1991 she started a magazine about the region's traditions and way
of life, "L'Accent de Provence". Attached as
she is to this region, to art and to the written word, she has already
written, with two painter friends, "Avignon, théâtre
d'architecture" and "Les Charmes du pays d'Aix",
published by A. Barthélemy.
If Persia captures the moment, Jacqueline Brotte endeavours, in these well-known
places, to flush out the history, an anecdote or a legend, to bring to
light a little-known or forgotten aspect or episode of each village, of
this Luberon of which she is so particularly fond.
For fifty years now, Persia expresses in shapes and in colours his love
for Provence. Jacqueline Brotte shows it in her writing and in each page
of her works.
Complicity between an artist and an author is nothing new, and here it
is present in our pleasure in this excursion they make together. The eye
of the first and the curiosity of the second draw us into an eternal yet
regenerated Luberon. |
