If I find a bird of prey, what am I suppose to do ?
Please note that all birds of prey are protected. Capture and transport are forbidden. Therefore you should at once signal your finding at an association for birds protection, or at the police station. |

Concernig the fluffy birds of prey found in spring, there are two cases :
· owls and little owls (eyes in front of head and feathered legs) must be leaved alone. Their precocious emancipation is natural, their parents are not far away (if on earth, put them back up).
· Diurnal birds of prey prey (laterally placed eyes, clear legs) must be gathered, fed and brought to a care center (except when their nest has not been dammaged). In this case, put the bird back.

You should bring them as soon as possible at a CARE CENTER.

Wrap it into a tissue for manipulating and cover its head. You'll be protected and it will struggle less. Pay attention at claws. Put on gloves.
Put it into a box with holes. Even if, for exceptional reasons, you'll have to keep it for several days. Keep the box in a dark and temperate zone. |
|
Note that the SNCF accepts to transport via express living animals only on Tuesday and only in certain stations.
Don't exhibit your finding ; repeated chocks could kill it.
|
|
Don't feed it with milked bread, nor sweet wine or meat, but with wet chopped entrails. Don't force it to drink water, it could swallow wrong. Soften the food. Use long pincers to feed it.
Immobilize a broken wing, in natural position, along its body with a skotch bandage. In case of open or infected wounds, see the veterinary sugeon. |
