Culminating at 1912 metres altitude, the Mont Ventoux, through its isolated character, has a very strong visual identity that has made it a truly mythic mountain in the history of Provence.

The origin of the word "Ventoux" could either come from the Celtic language : "ven top", white mountain, or from the Provençal: "ventour", which means exposed to the winds.

It is one of the oldest ski stations in France, where people have been skiing since the beginning of the 1930's.

On the northern slope of the Mont Ventoux, with its harsh and alpine feel, you find very abrupt zones where the altitude can fall by 1500 metres over 3 kilometres.
It is on this slope with its many combes that the Mont Serein and its 1400-1800 metre ski station is situated, snow-covered in winter, accessible by way of Malaucène in the Haut Vaucluse.
