The bistrot in Venterol |
Bistro in the Drôme Provençale
|
Venterol, one of the prettiest towns in the Drôme Provençale, is an
irresistible doll's village with a population of about a hundred, dominated by the church.
The Bistrot de Venterol is a stone's throw from the church. In this bistro, the décor is simple, "a large bar and a few formica tables next to the table football, the pool table and the pinball", but the charm of the place lies mainly in its immense terrace, on the square. Under sycamores hundreds of years old, a few meters from the former wash house, the tables give you a ringside seat for the spectacular boules matches that take place all summer, and even the concerts and festivities on July 14 and August 15. The bistro's hosts, Cédric Coulet and Bruno Cochi, thirty-somethings, know the region like the back of their hand and sometimes, in confidence, point out the prettiest excursions in the area or the places where you can spot the wild boars.
