A beautiful and unforgettable tour of Provence

Apt, labelled "remarkable town of taste »
After the minuscule village of Gignac, Apt seems really big. Founded by the Romans on the Via Domitia, it was an important town in the Empire (Roman theatre, forum..). Apt, the city of Sainte Anne, is dedicated to the mother of the Virgin Mary. Her cathedral is one of the oldest in Provence. |

Ochre and earthenware helped the town to grow in the 19th century, but it is the production of the traditional candied fruits - a delicacy served to the popes in Avignon in the 14th century already - that earned it today the label of "Remarquable Site for Taste". And every Saturday morning since the 12th century the town opens its gates to the big Provençal market, classed exceptional amongst 100 French markets for its ambiance and authenticity. It takes over the whole town and is a distinctive moment of encounters and conversation in a warm and simple Provençal atmosphere. |

| Finally the secluded village of Goult, carefully restored in pure Provençal style, offers beautiful stone and ochre buildings. The view over the surrounding villages is splendid, and Goult opens the gates to a region of market gardening : fruit trees, grapevines and lavender. Big squares, shaded by hundred year old European hackberries, welcome you to share the very Provençal sweetness of life that reigns here. |
