Mérindol,
peaceful and picturesque Provencal village at the foot of the Luberon,
is a mecca for the memory of the Vaudois. Declared heretics, the
Vaudois were cruelly hunted down and their villages destroyed in
the mid-16th century. A memorial has been set up in the ruins of
the old chateau.
