The Rice and salt Road towards Arles and the Camargue...
Arles, the little Rome of the Gauls, basking in the sun and the light of
Van Gogh, moving to the rhythm of the bullfights and the Prémices du
Riz (Rice) festivals... The Natural Regional Park of the Camargue, its protected
reserve and the immense wild beaches around Salins-de-Giraud...
The Fabric Road towards Tarascon and Nîmes...
In the workshops, printed by hand or by copper rollers, these richly colored
calicos, called “indiennes” are made with the motifs and know-how
that are 200 years old.
The Chateau Road of the Luberon,
Hilltop stone villages like Lacoste and Bonnieux, ancient stone dwellings
(bories) in Gordes, unusual châteaus between Oppède and Lourmarin...
Hiking, cycling or horseback riding, head off to these villages, châteaus,
bories, olive orchards under the blue sky, freely as you go.
The cliff road towards Marseille and La Ciotat...
By boat from the Old Port of Marseille to the Iles du Frioul, hiking from
Marseilleveyre to Cassis on the white cliffs of Morgiou, Port-Miouand En-Vau,
between a cobalt blue sky and emerald sea... all the way to Cap Canaille by
way of the crests, on the water in a canoe or kayak in the shadow of the sea
cliffs. Or dive into a fantastical world several dozens of meters deep, hunting
for the treasures on the fabulous sea floor around the islands off of Marseille
or Hyères...
The woodworkers' and antiques road towards Avignon,
Woodwork and Provençal furniture reached its height in the 17th and 18th
century, in the heart of the Arles-Aix et Avignon triangle. Antique furniture
