Lourmarin which is widely recognised as one of France's most beautiful villages. Located in the heart of the Parc Naturel du Luberon, between Aix en Provence and Avignon, the village's reputation as an 'haut lieu' of gastronomy and elegant dining has grown in the past several years and the village now attracts lovers of fine food from all over the world.

In the heart of the Luberon day trip destinations include the Cistercian abbey of Sénanque, the medieval villages of Gordes and Bonnieux, the ochre quarries and russet colours of Roussillon.

On Sunday mornings the world-famous antiques market at Isle-sur-la Sorgue is just thirty minutes’ drive.

The opportunities for hiking and cycling here are almost unlimited, and these are great ways to explore some of the finest scenery in Southern France.

The cities - Avignon, Aix en Provence & Arles

Not far away, you will find Avignon and the Popes' Palace, Aix-en-Provence, the southern beauty, birthplace of Paul Cézanne, with its chic boutiques and shaded sidewalk cafes. There is also Arles, the Roman city, with its amphitheatre and gothic cathedral, and where so much reminds of Vincent Van Gogh.

You can easily visit Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and its world renowned antique market, or the vineyards of the Côtes-du-Rhône : Gigondas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Finally, there is the Camargue, a still wild landscape of marshes, rice paddies and reeds, with herds of black bulls and white horses, flamingos and bird species unique in Europe.
