12th annual Festival of Marseille
|
from June 19 to July 13, 2007 |
| |
This year's Festival of Marseille allows the city to join in the dance and to revive vivid performances in their most innovative forms. Each year, professionals choregoraphers, directors and veteran actors perform on the Festival of Marseille's stage to offer the public top class productions.
Multidisciplinary and original, the programming of the Festival of Marseille drew its inspiration from particularly Marseille places. The show "Waterproof" by Daniel Larrieu sets the tone at the swim club of Marseille. In this out of the ordinary spot, the choreography invites ten virtuoso dancer-swimmers to move about in an olympic-sized pool. A unique act in the history of dance. The exhibition "Seule avec loup" by N+N Corsino offers the viewer a “choreographic fiction” in 3D on a giant screen in the new museum space Villeneuve-Bargemon. |

Hats off to the Festival of Marseille's team who offer the spectator during four weeks a true artistic quest and introduces him or her to new horizons at the Parc Henri Fabre and other cultural spots around the city. |
|
In welcoming performances of such calibre, Marseille is one of the most culturally profuse cities in Europe and passes on the Marseillais message stamped with solidarity, peace and fraternity open to the world. |

Indeed, thanks to its history and heritage, the diversity of its communities, and its very own cultural syncretism, Marseille is today a "Crossroads of Culture" between the two shores of the Mediterranean. |
