With a group of friends, we created less than three years ago "MEZZA-VOCE" to share with the greatest number of people our passion for opera. Thanks to the unfailing assistance of the Municipality of Salon de Provence and the support of the PACA region, we have quickly been able to offer quality performances : so it was that in 2006, on the stage at the Château de l'Empéri we presented, in collaboration with the association Espace Trenet, Mozart's masterpiece : "Don Giovanni". |

This ambitious first attempt, despite a few gaffes, was the starting point for a continuing opera activity : in July 2007, still at the Empéri, "Rigoletto" enjoyed great success before more than 1000 spectators and already with the participation of some students from the Municipal Conservatory ; in August, we organized a trip to the prestigious Arena in Verona, then a homage to Maria Callas in November at the Armand Theatre with the participation of international artists ; the extent of the success of this exceptional evening permitted us to repeat this homage for the New Year's celebrations in Marsciano in Italy before an enthusiastic public, which speaking through its mayor, invited us again this year for another opera evening, in that magnificent Region of Umbria, with which our town is attached thanks to its twinning with Gubbio.
It is also for us a matter of great pride to be supported and even borne along by opera singers of international renown, like Saltarin of the Opera of Rome, Mihaela Dinu of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Samuele Simoncini of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Emil Mattei of the Opera of Bucharest and the Maestro Stefano Giaroli of the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini in Parma.
Without doubt, it is thanks to this dynamic that our association counts more than 100 members among us.
This situation, so encouraging for the future, has permitted us to obtain an even greater confidence on the part of the elected town officials to the extent that they have entrusted us, for 2008, with the whole organization and management of the summer opera performances at the Empéri : so we are happy to present, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Giacomo Puccini, a new production of "Madame Butterfly" and probably a concert by young opera talents, on the initiative of the General Council of the Bouches du Rhône.
Like last year, we will return to a European Mecca of opera, because on August 23, 2008, still within framework of Puccini's birthday, we will be at his "home" in Torre del Lago in Tuscany, for the inauguration of the new outdoor theatre with 3800 seats and for an exceptional presentation of "Turandot".
If you also want to live these unique moments and at the same time support our actions, come join us, you will thus give even more weight to our project of organizing other concerts, and also exhibitions, master classes and above all, an international singing competition in our city. |
