Prehistoric caves in France: Grotte la Cocalière

Welcome to the site of the Cocalière cave. One of the most beautiful caves in France and one of the most visited caves in Europe.

A guided tour all along an easy itinerary which lasts approximately an hour. The temperature is constant. (14°c).

Room of the prehistoric cave

You will discover a living cave where stalactites, stalagmites, disks, eccentrics are mirrored in stretches of smooth water (called gours) festooned with calcite. A cave pearl forms before your very eyes.

At the end of the tour, presentation of a prehistoric gallery (neolithic, bronze age).

A comfortable little train will then bring you back through the garrigue to the shaded.

A beautiful footpath near the cave enables you to discover the Mediterranean karst which was created during the Tertiary Era, as well as a dolmen and a drystone hut called capitelle.
