THE NATURAL REGIONAL PARK OF THE VERDON
An open book about geology, flora and fauna, and the history of Man, the region of the Verdon is an exceptional spot to discover.
Straddling the departments of the Alpes de Haute Provence and the Var (marked by the meeting of the two Alpine and Mediterranean climates), it gives you the most diverse landscapes.
Mountains, forests, plains and plateaus of farms, lakes, cliffs: it is home to a third of all French flora and to rare animals like the Little Bustard, the Vulture and the Ocellated Lizard.
The Verdon, with its 165 km and 434 million cubic meters of water retained by 5 dams, provides drinking water for the big towns of Provence.
Since 500,000 years ago, Man has left his mark on the territory.
The ruins, art, traditions, the rural culture that has shaped the habitations and worked the land, form the cultural heritage of the Verdon. |
