The Nationale 7 from Paris to Menton

"Do you remember all this ancient cars which marched in front of us... ?"

"I remember my father's 4CV Renault which we went to the sea with."
"Do you remember small shops, baskets and brooms which decorated the roadside ?"

"Their colors made a special atmosphere to the road... It was welcoming and people have the time to live..."

It is thanks to this words that passioned and wistful people about ancient cars and formerly life wished for create a place where every remember should be exhibited and protected.

So the National 7 Museum was born.



The Association
Before opening this place, passioned people have created an association in 1990, named "National 7 Memory". The aim is to promote the National 7 road and Piolenc patrimony.


The association began to collect severals things given by the local population. It organized exhibitions for local events and looked for a place to lodge the museum.
In 2002, the Château Simian wine growing domain, in Piolenc suggested to lodge the museum. This news dynamised the association which began to repair severals things.

The place's constructions began in January 2003. The National 7 Museum opened the May 27th of 2003.

- septembre 2003 : Journées du Patrimoine.
- octobre 2003 : Foire d'Orange.
- février 2004 : Avignon Auto Rétro.
- avril 2004 : organisation des Journées Découvertes du musée avec une exposition temporaire : "du camion hippomobile au Citroën HY : un siècle de véhicules utilitaires". Notre ami Thierry Dubois étant présent pour dédicacer son livre "La Route Paris Côte d'Azur"
- mai 2004 : premier anniversaire du musée.
- août 2004 : défilé de char pour la fâte de l'ail de Piolenc et exposition de véhicules anciens au musée, camions, voitures et deux roues.
- septembre 2004 : Journées du patrimoine avec conférence de Thierry Dubois.
- novembre 2004 : Journées du Goût

For the first year, the museum organized severals events :
- mai 2003 : accueil du rallye de la RN7 Historique.
- août 2003 : organisation du Rallye de l'Ail.
