The Camargue Museum in Arles

and its discovery trail
Situated in the heart of the Camargue, the Museum of the Camargue has been installed in the old sheepfold at the Mas of the Pont de Rousty. It recounts the evolution of Man's activities in the Rhône delta.
The permanent exhibition is greatly devoted to life in a mas in the 19th century: farming, rearing, hunting, gathering, fishing…
|
and developments that occurred in the 20th century: wine-growing, rice-growing, production of sea salt, the Course Camarguaise bull games...
A true introduction to the Camargue, a visit to the Museum can continue on the discovery trail at the Mas du Pont de Rousty, which crosses the farm and lets you discover the different lands and their uses. The trail is 3.5 kilometres and on it several stopping places have been set out. Right at the beginning of the trail visitors can consult "the mas's calendar" and thus follow the rhythms of life that follow one another with the seasons: the harvest, the arrival and departure of the herds and flocks, the cutting and regrowth of the reeds, the nesting and the birds' first flight…
