 The
Maison Brotte, an independent family business for three generations
now, was founded in 1931 in Châteauneuf du Pape by Charles
Brotte, a pioneer in the bottling of wines of the Rhône Valley.
The
business of wine merchant-producer was developed in particluar
with the mark "Père Anselme" thanks to
its emblematic Châteauneuf du Pape wine "La Fiole
du Pape", an original and exclusive bottle designed
in 1952. Today it is the best selling bottle of Châteauneuf
du Pape in the world (400,000 bottles per year).
Since
20 years ago, wanting to get closer to wine production and
thus guarantee better quality of its vintages, the Maison
Brotte began working as wine-makers for several appelations
of the Rhône Valley in their own cellars in Châteauneuf
du Pape.

In
1991, by buying the Château de Bord (an estate in
Laudun), the Maison Brotte has also become wine growers
of the Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun and the
Côtes du Rhône appellations. This vineyard grew
with the acquisition in 2003 of the Domaine de l'Aube.
The
Domaine de Barville, a vineyard in Châteauneuf du
Pape holding that appellation, as well as the Domaine Grosset,
a Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne appellation,
are two estates that also belong to the Brotte family.
Moreover,
the Maison Brotte continues to develop an innovative partnership
with wine growers, where each party contributes their know-how
and where the two are solidly and inexorably united for
the long term under the name of the marketed wine.
For
example, for many years this has been the case with
Domaine de la Grivelière and their Lirac and Côtes
du Rhône wines, and more recently with the Domaine
du Versant Doré in the Condrieu appellation, the
Arlettes in Cornas and the Domaine Bouvencourt in Vacqueras.

Today
directed by Laurent Brotte, grandson of the founder, the Maison
Brotte, sells around 1.4 million bottles per year, to restaurants,
wine cellars and private individuals.
The
Maison Brotte today offers two signatures :
- Père Anselme,
the historic and internationally recognized mark thanks
to the success of the "Fiole du Pape". It is also
the guarantee of quality for our regional appellation wines,
local wines and single grape variety wines.
- Laurent Charles Brotte, the family signature, for our
special vintages, our Estate and Châteaux wines, our
wines from the Rhône Valley (northern and southern
parts); in short, our prestigious wines produced in limited
quantities. |
