The Lavender Museum in Coustellet - Luberon - Provence

The lavender Museum

Collection du musée de la lavande dans le Luberon

The laveder museum presents the history of the distillation of this ancient plant and its utilisation in medicines and perfumes for over 4000 years. A sumptuous collection of copper stills dating from the 16th century to today has been assembled for over twenty years now by George Lincelé.

Alambic du musée de la lavande en Provence

From July 1 to August 25, you can watch the work of reaping and distillation: reaping with sickles and traditional distillation in a copper still dating from 1900.

Discover the whole history of lavender with the aid of an audioguide. Available in French, English and German, it allows you to visit the whole museum at your own rhythm. 45 minutes of fascinating commentaries tell you everything about the history, distillation and uses of lavender.

A 10 minute audiovisual documentary about the reaping and distillation is also projected on to the big screen in the museums cinema.
