The Former Hôtel de Lubières
This private mansion with very old origins is connected by an arch to the Hôtel de Sade facing it, symbolizing the union of two families of St Rémy de Provence : the Meyrand de Lagoy and the Benault de Lubières. The rooms there are immense with high beamed ceilings. A beautiful spiralling stairway leads upstairs. This place is today devoted to the protection and promotion of the natural plant species of the Alpilles, and most particularly the almond tree which gave it its new name. An amazing collection of natural and artistic works in wood is exhibited here. It also houses temporary exhibitions.
