It was in Saint Michel L'Observatoire that were created Les Alpes de Lumière, an organization for the development of the heritage and environment in Haute Provence, and the classical music publishers Harmonia Mundi.

Astronomy :
At the Observatory of Haute Provence, founded in 1936 by the CNRS (National Scientific Research Center) in Saint Michel l'Observatoire, which studies have designated as the clearest sky in France. The Astronomy Center also offers year-round nighttime observations.
