Cultural and touristic :
Many local museums relate the history and heritage of the Cévennes region, through its agricultural economy, textile, mining, the typical architecture of a "Mas", its botany, geology and its history during the Wars of Religion that so marked the Gard : Museum of the desert, the bamboo plantation, the steam train of the Cévennes, Museum of the Cévenole valleys, the Trabue cave...
To the west of Boisset, you will discover, in less than an hour’s drive, the famous
village of Uzès, Avignon (Popes' Palace) and Baux de Provence. To the south,
Nîmes, the Roman city, Montpellier, a medieval university town, the
Camargue and its amazing marshlands, as well as its capital Aigues Mortes. North of Boisset et Gaujac is St Jean du Gard and the outer zone of the National Park of the Cévennes, the only inhabited national park: hiking in summer and winter, the Botanic trail, Stevenson’s walking trail and visiting the Cévenne valleys under the chestnut trees will take you along the Corniche of the Cévennes, to the Causses and to the gorges of the Tarn. Father to the west, after Le Vigan, the land of silk, you will discover the extraordinary geological site of the Cirque de Navacelles, near the department of the Hérault. All these excursions and visits can be done in the course of one day, and in the evening, back at the Mas, you can cool off in the pool to the soft song of the cicadas.
Sports :
Tennis classes in Boisset et Gaujac, mountain biking, canoeing in Collias under the Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. Bathing in the gorges of the Gardon in Maillet, walking and hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country and downhill skiing on the massif of the Aigoual (1567m), 1h30min from Anduze, golf courses 5/18/42 holes in the surrounding areas.
Gastronomy :
The surrounding villages certainly do not lack small, typical restaurants where recipes with olive oil or chestnuts bring out the best of the seasonal vegetables. The owner’s wine, bought directly from the vineyard (Coteaux de Languedoc or Cotes du Rhône), accompanies our regional specialty, the "Pélardon" (goat’s cheese). In Anduze, a colourful and fragrant market will let you cook at the Mas, according to each season, the fruits and vegetables of our land.
