Created in 1983, the Foundation has as its mission achieving the desire often expressed by Vincent van Gogh in his letters to his brother Theo to create in Arles a "House of Artists" that would provide for continuous cultural activity.

The association with Van Gogh is regularly present and is essential in maintaining and guaranteeing an indispensable continuity. This main thread permits us to bring to light the connection between the great painter and contemporary artists having an affinity with or a significant approach to Vincent van Gogh.

Each summer, an exhibition is devoted to a new artist, part of whose works can be situated in the tradition of this artistic forefather. Thanks to the dynamism of their numerous actions, the Foundation contributes to the international cultural influence of Arles, linked to the memory of an exceptional artist.
