Museum of Old Nîmes

Laid out in the former 17th century bishops' palace, the museum recounts the history of Nîmes from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Art works and crafts, furnishing and household objects depict the local culture and traditions. Its collection of fabrics reminds us that the silk shawls from Nîmes were all the rage throughout Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. And the “Blue Room” is devoted to Nîmes' most famous invention: denim jeans.
