Atelier Francois Bronze, Restoration of Objets d'Art.

"Bronze, Copper, Pewter, Brass, Zinc, Babbit, Cast Iron, Silver and Sheffield metals"
|
| |
In the beginning, in 1958, this workshop was established at 8 rue Froment in Paris; then, taking a step original for the period, in 1975 it was moved to the provinces; and since then, it is right here, at this bronze-smiths workshop in Avignon, that they carry on the traditions of restoration, cleaning and preservation of bronze objets d'art .

| The restoration of old metals holds no secrets for them: bronzes, pewters, coppers, brass, zincs, Babbit (white metal), cast iron, silver, and Sheffield metals. |
|
| |
For the restoration of monuments, groups of statues, public fountains, war memorials, François Bronze can come work in all parts of Europe. |
|
|
As a rule, the principle of precaution always prevails, and a thorough technical auscultation is carried out.
When a work is not seriously eroded, cracked, weakened (inside or out), or loosened from its stand, we know full well that it is entirely preferable for its preservation that it not be lifted, taken down and moved.

Because, if bronze resists corrosion relatively well, it does not withstand physical impacts; the "dismantlings" too often cause fragmenting, and extra irreversible damages. |
|
| |
As concerns cast iron monuments, the problem is a bit different because this metal is often eroded inside by rust: it becomes therefore absolutly necessary to intervene if the structure is seriously weakened. That is unfortunately the case with many fountains; but there once again prudence is required, because cast iron, very difficult to weld, can break like glass from awkward pressure during the dismantling! Certain unsuitable techniques can quickly reveal themselves destructive, and unfortunately irreversible for our national monuments in metal.
But of course, even meticulously done, restoration carried on the spot, at a reasonable cost, will always be less spectacular and promotional, than an arm suspended in mid-air by a giant crane...

The Atelier François Bronze restores bronze with bronze only, without using plastic materials that would never have the same expansion coefficient. In fact, composite materials can have disastrous repercussions on this métal.
You can also entrust the Atelier François Bronze with your most varied decorative objets d'art: silver teapots, zinc weather vanes, brass and bronze sextants ... Clients come from all countries: USA, United Kingdom, Japan... |
