Chateau Pesquie - Cotes du Rhone - Wine

Cotes du Rhone wine

The vineyard represents seven properties and stretches across three communes within a range of approximately 5 km - Mormoiron, Blauvac et Villes-sur-Auzon.

Château Pesquié - Grapevine
It is located on hillsides of argillocalcareous gravel. The geological features of the Côtes du Ventoux region are extremely varied. But the commune of Mormoiron is the most geologically rich commune in Vaucluse. Château Pesquié's vines are essentially rooted in two types of Quaternary soil :

- sloping deposits of old scree and gravel provide excellent support for the vines. They allow rainwater to penetrate and drain naturally to prevent asphyxiation, and are very rich in minerals (cationic).

- colluvial deposits in the Cretaceous hills located near the old gravel deposits that are widely recognized for their value in wine making.

Château Pesquié - The domain

A recent study sponsored by the Côtes du Ventoux Syndicat Général stressed that these two Quaternary formations, which have inherited the mineral wealth of certain Cretaceous soils, held the most potential in the region.

Château Pesquié in Mormoiron
They cultivate superior vintages characterized by structured wines with rich color and powerful and complex aromas (like Prestige or Quintessence), or more supple, fruity wines with delicate aromas, e.g., Les Terrasses (red) or Quintessence (white).
