The bullherders "of the manade, or ranch " stayed night and day with the animals on the delta's marshes. At the time, they constructed shelters with the only materials available, which were quite light: reeds, mud and plaster. Rounded on the northern side, to limit the power of the master wind, the Mistral, over this meager edifice, and topped by a cross to ask for divine protection, the bullherders' cabins sparsely populated the marshes. |

In Camargue, the Hotel the Pont des Bannes wanted to make this traditional architecture endure by giving it the comforts of today. Meanwhile, the materials and the buiding know-how of the people of the past make agressive air-conditioning pointless. Gentle ventilation protects you from the heat that is rarely excessive by the seaside, while letting you enjoy the feeling that we live in a country where summer really exists. |
