Uzès:
Uzès is an historic village dating back to Roman times and has many beautiful heritage buildings such as the Saint-Théodorit Cathedral, the Fenestrelle tower, the Ducal Palace and of course the Place aux Herbes where you can enjoy a coffee or lunch at one of the many cafés and restaurants. Place aux Herbes is also the centre of the two bustling markets held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The town also hosts a number of fairs and festivals celebrating its diverse culture. Join the celebrations at the ‘Nuits Musicales d’Uzès’ (July), the Garlic Fair (June) or the Truffle Fair (January)......or simply enjoy the fresh local produce and the herbs of Provence at the markets.
Beyond the Uzège:
The Uzège, from the town of Uzès to the Pont du Gard, is a grand historical region having within a 60km radius the cities of Avignon, Arles and Nimes and the villages of Saint Remy de Provence, Les Baux de Provence, the Luberon with its hilltop villages such as Gordes and Lacoste and the Camargue. A visit to these beautiful places many with monuments from Roman times will be the highlight of your time in the south of France.
