The countryside around Les Carmes has numerous small towns each with their own character and charm.
L'Isle sur La Sorgue and it's famous Sunday market which takes over the town, selling everything, local grown vegetables, bread,material, clothes and flowers.
L'Isle is also know for being the Antiques centre and on a Sunday you will find a huge variety of books, bric a brac, furniture and all manner of antiquities in the market.
Small cafe's at every corner offer refreshments all through the day making the Sunday market an experience not to be missed.

The walk up to the cavern where the river emerges from underground, is not for the fainthearted, but it does have an array of small shops and cafe's for those who enjoy a rest now and again. There is also an old working paper mill, illustrating how paper was produced many years ago.
