In this prestigious
site, there is nearly a thousand years, the monks Benedictines set
up a Roman church of which there remain only some ruins hidden in the
greenery, and a smallholding whose memory is still strongly registered
in the East wing and in an interior court of the house. Here was the
primitive hamlet of Les Angles whose first historical mention goes
up at 1097.
In 1738, Jean Hyacinthe Calvet made build this "castle", directed towards
the south, and which it joined with the remainders of the smallholding altered
on this occasion.
After having belonged during the 19th century with Armand de Pontmartin, the
House will cross, after his death in 1890, a long period of silence. In 1938,
fallen in love with the place, the painter Louis Montagné member of convivial
and celebrates "Group of the Thirteen", will give again a heart to
it. |
