Forcalquier Gorges du Verdon Lavender grounds

Halfway between the Alps and the Mediterranean, between the Lure and Luberon mountains, and the Durance and Calavon rivers, lies the magical area of the Pays de Forcalquier. Things to see and do include:
- Rambling : 500 km of marked trails to discover on foot, on horseback, on mountain or hybrid bike, as well as The Lavender Route, the Via Domitia Roman way and the high country of the writer Giono...
- Hot-air ballooning.
- Gastronomy and regional produce : goats’ cheeses from Banon, olive oil from Lurs, herbal apéritifs from Forcalquier, the local Bistros du Pays and restaurants and , of course, the Provencal markets – all reflections of the Provençal way of life.
- Astronomy : the Observatory of Haute-Provence at Saint Michel l’Observatoire offers tours, evening sky-watching, multimedia shows, etc...
- Local artists and craftspeople in their studios, cultural exhibitions, concerts
- Towns and villages, tourist sites : Forcalquier, Cruis, Dauphin, Fontienne, l'Hospitalet, Limans, Lurs, Mallefougasse, Saint Maine, the Lure mountains (culminating at 1826 m)...
