Château de Berne, 4 star hotel in the heart of Provence |
| |
|
| |
A wine cellar regroups all the stages in the making of the wine, from the arrival of the harvested grapes to its exportation throughout the world, as the Château de Berne has spread its already great reputation to the main European countries, the United States, Japan and Canada.
The experts agree in recognizing the perfect balance of modernity in the service of the purest traditions : ageing in oak casks and vats and scrupulous attention and monitoring of the vinification and the fermentation of the juices by rigorous winemakers make the Côtes de Provence Château de Berne wines exceptional.
All of the wines, whether they are called "Spéciale", "Terres de Berne" or "Oliviers de Berne" have their own particular way of being produced and present steadfast qualities sure to satisfy connoisseurs. |

Widely recognized and rewarded wines |
|
Accolades have not been long in coming. The Côtes de Provence Château de Berne wines are referenced by the most exacting specialized guides : for example, the 1997 Cuvée Spéciale Red was remarked on by the guide Millésime Dussert Gerber, the Revue des Vins de France and the 2000 Hubert Wine Guide, which qualified it as "Star of the Year". For its part, Millésimes 2002, the international wine "bible" distinguished the 1999 Cuvée Spéciale red, "classed premier Great Wine and well deserved".
We could continue to cite a whole list of gold, silver and bronze medals awarded at prestigious wine fairs, vying with the best vintages from France and the world.
The Côtes de Provence Château de Berne wines are served in the best restaurants like that of Jacques Chibois at La Bastide Saint Antoine, Roger Vergé at the Moulin in Mougins, the Messardière and Laurent Tarridec's restaurant the Leï Mouscardins in Saint Tropez, at the Gray d’Albion in Cannes, the Café de Paris in Monaco and in Paul Bocuse's Brasseries in Lyon…

With all this know-how, this taste for quality and this inventive spirit that characterize the Chateau de Berne, a Wine School has quite naturally been created.
It gives you a wide range of experiences to get to know and appreciate wines through three different sessions :
- in the first, you discover the estate, the grapevines and the Cellar, in the company of the winemakers at the Château de Berne, followed by a tasting.
- then the guided tour of the cellar shows you how the "Terres de Berne" and the "Spéciale" wines are made, followed by a tasting...
- the third takes you on a journey, from the vineyard to your glass. It covers all stages of wine-making. A devoted oenologist leads this three hour session. |

The Château de Berne : A Rendezvous with Oenology
|
|
You really enter into the domain of oenology. It's truly there where you live the passion for the vines and the wine. First, you learn to recognize and appreciate the wines of Provence. You taste discerningly because you will have discovered what the "robe", "nose" and "mouth" signify. We talk about tannins, flavours of fruit and berries, connotations of licorice, spices and honey, a complete initiation which leads you quite naturally to want to compose and organize your own wine cellar.
And there as well, our oenologist guides you in your choices, the number of bottles, where and how to place them, and all sorts of tricks known to the truly initiated...
The star of the programmes offered is indisputably the Oenology Day at the
Chateau de Berne, to share the life and experiences of a wine-maker, with a visit of the estate by jeep, on a tractor or, more romantically, by horse-drawn wagon. The day includes a meal at the Cellar or the hotel...
